Inspired Turkey Burgers
I’m on a never-ending quest for good turkey burger recipes. There’s our “Favorite Turkey Burger” recipe that I love, but while I’ve tried things like mixing in a log of herbed goat cheese, or Mexican spices, I’m usually underwhelmed. Let’s face it. Turkey breast is very low in fat & high in protein, which is good from a dietary perspective . . . but it’s pretty flavorless. So you’ve really gotta do some work to zazzle it up. [Read more →]

My Favorite Cooking Tools
I’ve got a lot of kitchen stuff. Just ask my poor husband who put together a giant Ikea armoire to house extra pie plates, cake pans, cookie cutters, etc. etc. etc. We have a big kitchen with lots of cupboard space, but where to put the 3 (yes, you read that right) waffle irons? The juicer? The panini press? Downstairs.

So I didn’t realize that D. thought he didn’t like split pea soup, at all. So much so that when he called on his way home from work and I told him it was for dinner, there was a pregnant pause followed by an ” . . . okay . . . .” Awesome. This was gonna be great. Pasta With Collards and Tomatoes
Ahhh, leafy greens. SO good for you, full of vitamins and calcium and all sorts of health-producing, cancer-busting stuff. But some of them? Sorta scary. Big and tough looking, and reputed to be . . . bitter. Blech, right? Not if you play ‘em right, my friends.

Asian Cod With Spring Onions and Asparagus in Parchment
Have you ever tried cooking in parchment packets? The fancy name is “en papillot,” but all you really need to know are the basics, and that it’s a great way to steam your food in its own flavorful juices without much added fat (unless you want to, of course!). I, of course, am still trying to whittle my middle, and parchment packet cooking is a great vehicle for low-calorie, high-flavor foods. And you KNOW I like those.
